The African Women’s Lobby vehemently condemns the ongoing violence in Sudan, particularly the horrifying reports of killings fueled by widespread sexual violence in Darfur. This brutality is utterly unacceptable.

We urgently demand that all parties involved in this conflict cease their attacks immediately. The continuation of this bloodshed must come to an abrupt halt. Those responsible for these heinous acts must face concrete consequences for their actions.

We insist on unrestricted access to the areas affected by this conflict. This access is crucial for thorough investigations into these atrocities and for delivering life-saving humanitarian aid to the survivors who are in desperate need.

We call upon all hidden influences in Sudan and the surrounding region to be unveiled and stoped. The expansion of this unnecessary and devastating conflict has resulted in immeasurable human suffering and the wasteful depletion of resources.

Those accountable for any atrocities against innocent civilians, especially instances of Conflict Related Sexual Violence, rapes, and the deliberate targeting of humanitarian workers, medical personnel, and other essential service providers, must be held fully accountable.

To the conflicting parties, we remind you of your obligations under international law to safeguard the well-being of civilians and natural resources. We beseech all African Leaders to come together in unity against war, and to pave the way for development, growth, and opportunities across the entire continent.

Africa is akin to a single body; when one nation or city within Africa is wounded, the entire continent suffers. It is imperative that we put an end to this senseless violence and work collaboratively towards a brighter and more prosperous future for all Africans and beyond.
